Swedish Embassy Invests in Solar Power
The Swedish Embassy in Delhi looks set to make a start with it’s conversion over to green energy; the embassy is looking to generate 10% of its total energy needs via solar PV panels.
The panels will be installed on the embassy’s roof; spread out over an area of 600 square meters, and will provide around 75kw of power for the building. The energy generated will also save the embassy around £10,000 every year.
Lars-Olof Lindgren, the Swedish Ambassador, stated that the new panels were all part of the Swedish government’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint through renewable technologies like solar power. He went on to say: “Key measures have been taken to reduce the energy consumption during 2012 and onwards targeting a total energy consumption of approximately 35% through new and renewable sources.”
